companies launch diversity reports"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>Lyft launched its first ever diversity report, and other companies are following.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Major tech companies such as Google, Facebook, <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2017\/03\/28\/uber-first-diversity-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Uber<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.atlassian.com\/diversity\/survey\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Atlassian<\/a>, Apple and recently Lyft have committed to realizing annual diversity reports.<\/p>\n<p>In their <a href=\"https:\/\/take.lyft.com\/diversity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">first ever delivery<\/a>, Lyft proved 36% of their employees are female, while 18% are Asian, 1% are black, 5% are Latin and 70% are white.<\/p>\n<p>This information, according to the transportation mobile app, will hold them accountable and will determine their actions they take to make a difference to the people who come to work every day at Lyft.<\/p>\n<p>Although information regarding LGBTQ and disability employment is lacking on the final report, the company said it will deliver diversity and inclusion data points every year in a search of identifying new work opportunities.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Following the diversity initiative<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Like mentioned earlier, Lyft is not the only tech corporation showing off information of its kind.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_14797\" style=\"width: 310px\" href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.fb.com\/news\/2017\/08\/facebook-diversity-update-building-a-more-diverse-inclusive-workforce\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Facebook<\/a> grew in terms of black employment, an adversity issue that had been <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2014\/06\/25\/facebook-diversity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">haunting them since 2014<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Maxine Williams, Facebook\u2019s global head of diversity and inclusion, said: \u201cIt\u2019s a reminder to those of us working on [diversity] what we were able to do over the last 365 days\u201d (&#8230;) \u201cBut also a reminder of how far away we are from where we want to go.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As for Google, <a href=\"http:\/\/fortune.com\/google-diversity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">data shows<\/a> that woman workers are on the rise, however, small improvements have been seen for minority workers.<\/p>\n<p>Google\u2019s overall workforce is 56% White, 35% Asian, 4% two or more races, 4% Hispanic or Latinx, 2% Black and less than 1% American Indian or Alaskan Native, and Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander.<\/p>\n<p>Here are the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.diversityinc.com\/the-diversityinc-top-50-companies-for-diversity-2017\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">top companies of diversity in 2017 according to DiversityInc.<\/a><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Changes are rewarded<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The Corporate Equality Award was given to Lyft in recognition to its efforts of innovating and ensuring a more inclusive environment, despite <a href=\"https:\/\/arstechnica.com\/tech-policy\/2017\/03\/lyft-agrees-to-pay-27-million-to-settle-driver-classification-lawsuit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">past problems<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Company\u00b4s standards were raised in September when <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crunchbase.com\/person\/tariq-meyers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tariq Meyers<\/a> was appointed head of inclusion and diversity for the corporation.<\/p>\n<p>Lyft is one of the youngest companies to ever receive the
