{"id":15305,"date":"2018-07-13T12:42:46","date_gmt":"2018-07-13T12:42:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ceo-na.com\/?p=15305"},"modified":"2018-07-16T15:50:15","modified_gmt":"2018-07-16T15:50:15","slug":"gatess-books-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/servidor-mxigen1.com\/ceona-antiguo\/ceo-life\/art-culture\/gatess-books-2017\/","title":{"rendered":"Bill Gates and the books at his top-of-mind"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>This is Bill Gate&#8217;s read-list of 2017.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>For several years, Bill Gates has been choosing his favorite books of the year, and 2017 was not the exception.<\/p>\n<p>The co-founder of Microsoft \u2014 a man worth\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/profile\/bill-gates\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">an estimated $90 billion<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 has stated he reads about 50 books a year as it\u00a0helps him learn new things and test his ability to understand.<\/p>\n<p>So, without any further ado, here are\u00a0Gates&#8217;s top readings of 2017 according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gatesnotes.com\/About-Bill-Gates\/Best-Books-2017?WT.mc_id=12_04_2017_10_EOYBooks2017_BG-media_&amp;WT.tsrc=BGmedia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">his blog<\/a>:<\/p>\n<h6><strong>Gates&#8217;s picks of 2017<\/strong><\/h6>\n<ol>\n<li>Joby Warrick&#8217;s book <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pulitzer.org\/winners\/joby-warrick\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">&#8220;Black Flags: The Rise of ISIS&#8221;<\/a> was Bill&#8217;s first choice.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Bill recommends this\u00a0thrilling dramatic narrative to anyone who wants a compelling history lesson on how ISIS managed to seize power in Iraq.<\/p>\n<p>Joby Warrick is a two-time winner of the Pulitzer Prize.<\/p>\n<p>2. Number two for Bill is\u00a0John Green\u2019s new novel, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.johngreenbooks.com\/turtles-all-the-way-down-book\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">&#8220;Turtles All the Way Down&#8221;<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This book speaks on mental illness while a young woman tracks down fugitive billionaire\u00a0Russell Pickett.<\/p>\n<p>The New York Times defines it as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2017\/10\/10\/books\/john-green-anxiety-obsessive-compulsive-disorder.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">&#8220;A wrenching and revelatory novel.&#8221;<\/a><\/p>\n<p>3. Bill Gates was intrigued on reading on\u00a0forces preventing economic mobility in the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>This took him to pick up <a href=\"http:\/\/www.epi.org\/publication\/the-color-of-law-a-forgotten-history-of-how-our-government-segregated-america\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">&#8220;The Color of Law&#8221;<\/a>\u00a0by Richard Rothstein.<\/p>\n<p>In it, Rothstein argues how segregation in America is the byproduct of explicit government policies at the local, state, and federal levels.<\/p>\n<p>The book was\u00a0designated one of ten finalists on the National Book Awards\u2019 long list for the best nonfiction book of 2017.<\/p>\n<p>4.
