This is why it follows Singapore.<\/p>\n<p>In Denmark, ranked 3rd on the index,\u00a0FTTP (pure fibre) connections are available to more than half of Danish homes and businesses, providing extremely fast speeds and excellent future-proofing.<\/p>\n<p>At #4 is Norway, who has also decided to focus on FTTP, giving 40% of its population the access to pure fiber.<\/p>\n<p>Romania ranks 5th in the world by broadband internet speed in 2018 with an average of 38.6 Mbps measured in the last 12 months.<\/p>\n<p>The five fastest countries have download speeds around 88 times faster than the five slowest.<\/p>\n<p>The countries in the world with the slowest broadband internet speed are Yemen (0.31 Mbps), East Timor (0.49 Mbps) and Turkmenistan (0.56 Mbps).<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-layout-column fusion_builder_column fusion-builder-column-1 fusion_builder_column_1_4 1_4 fusion-one-fourth\" style=\"--awb-bg-size:cover;width:25%;width:calc(25% - ( ( 4% + 4% ) * 0.25 ) );margin-right: 4%;\"><div class=\"fusion-column-wrapper fusion-flex-column-wrapper-legacy\"><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-2\"><table width=\"619\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"156\">1<\/td>\n<td width=\"231\">Singapore<\/td>\n<td width=\"116\">Asia &amp; Sweden is Europe\u2019s fastest country, offering an average speed of 46.00Mbps. Armenia is Europe\u2019s slowest, with an average speed just 3.94Mbps.<\/td>\n<td align=\"left\">The United States has the fastest broadband in the North American region \u2013 no surprises there \u2013 with an average speed of 25.86Mbps.
