Canadian unit is interested in\u00a0selling cannabis-based products, but with no immediate plans.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>After Coca-Cola was closely watching the marijuana drinks market for a possible entry and\u00a0Corona beer maker Constellation Brands invested more than $4 billion in cannabis producer Canopy Growth, Walmart is the next in line showing serious interest.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2018-10-02\/pepsico-slides-after-cfo-says-company-has-no-plans-for-cannabis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">According to Bloomberg<\/a>, when PepsiCo Inc. said last week that it has no plans to invest in cannabis, its shares\u00a0took a dip.<\/p>\n<p>As\u00a0Canada\u2019s on the verge of becoming the first major economy to legalize recreational marijuana on Oct. 17, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ceo-na.com\/primezone\/blockchain-for-the-future-of-food-chain-supply\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Walmart<\/a> has shown interest mainly in the alcohol and beverage industries, considering entering the market for cannabis-infused products.<\/p>\n<p>Diane Medeiros, spokeswoman for Walmart, said that\u00a0\u201cWalmart Canada has done some preliminary fact-finding on this issue, but we do not have plans to carry CBD (Cannabidiol) products at this time&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Cannabidiol\u00a0is the non-psychoactive chemical found in marijuana and does not cause intoxication.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>A market on the rise<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>According to\u00a0Roth Capital Partners analyst Scott Fortune, the legal <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ceo-na.com\/business\/industry\/flourishing-pot-market\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cannabis market in Canada<\/a> is targeting an estimated 32 million adults by 2025, and drive about C$10.4 billion in retail market sales.<\/p>\n<p>The Canadian decision could make other countries spark their talk about legalizing recreational marijuana use, as several U.S. states are doing the same, despite still remaining illegal under federal law.<\/p>\n<\/div><div
