{"id":18740,"date":"2018-10-09T20:45:34","date_gmt":"2018-10-09T20:45:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ceo-na.com\/?p=18740"},"modified":"2018-10-09T20:58:38","modified_gmt":"2018-10-09T20:58:38","slug":"the-trade-war-is-set-to-take-its-toll","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/servidor-mxigen1.com\/ceona-antiguo\/news\/the-trade-war-is-set-to-take-its-toll\/","title":{"rendered":"The trade war is set to take its toll"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>2019 could be a difficult year for the U.S. and China due to trade war.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The International Monetary Fund on Tuesday cut its growth forecasts for the United States and China, and news is not good.<\/p>\n<p>Citing the recent waves of tariffs the world&#8217;s top two economies have imposed on each other, the clash between Washington and Beijing\u00a0threatens to continue growing and cause damage other nations.<\/p>\n<p>Maurice Obstfeld, the IMF&#8217;s chief economist, said at a media briefing about the fund&#8217;s latest World Economic Outlook:\u00a0&#8220;When you have the world&#8217;s two largest economies at odds, that&#8217;s a situation where everyone suffers&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>China&#8217;s growth is now expected to drop to 6.2%, from 6.6% this year, according to the IMF. The new 2019 forecast is 0.2 percentage points lower than the fund&#8217;s previous forecast, reflecting the waves of new tariffs that have taken effect since then.<\/p>\n<p>Despite\u00a0healthy momentum\u00a0in the\u00a0U.S., which received a boost from\u00a0recent tax cuts, IMF economists now expect growth to slow<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>to 2.5% next year from 2.9% this year.
