Paul Allen, co-founder of\u00a0Microsoft, passed away at 65.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Paul\u00a0Allen, founded Microsoft with Bill Gates in 1975, has died Monday at 65.<\/p>\n

His death\u00a0was the result of complications stemming from non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, it was confirmed by a statement from his company, Vulcan Inc.<\/p>\n

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella issued a statement this afternoon, lauding Allen’s accomplishments and noting that “[our] hearts are with Paul’s family and loved ones.”<\/p>\n

“As co-founder of Microsoft, in his own quiet and persistent way, he created magical products, experiences and institutions, and in doing so, he changed the world”, Nadella added.<\/p>\n

“He possessed a remarkable intellect and a passion to solve some of the world’s most difficult problems, with the conviction that creative thinking and new approaches could make profound and lasting impact”, said\u00a0Vulcan CEO Bill Hilf.<\/p>\n

Steven Sinofsky, former president of Microsoft’s Windows division, said Allen “did so much to shape lives with computing and his later work in science, community, and research.”<\/p>\n

Paul Allen ranked among the world’s wealthiest individuals. He was 44th on\u00a0Forbes’ 2018 list of billionaires<\/a>\u00a0with an estimated net worth of more than $20 billion.<\/p>\n

He was also owner of an NBA team, the Portland Trail Blazers, and the NFL\u2019s Seattle Seahawks.<\/p>\n
