{"id":19116,"date":"2019-08-16T11:04:35","date_gmt":"2019-08-16T11:04:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ceo-na.com\/?p=19116"},"modified":"2019-08-16T16:06:05","modified_gmt":"2019-08-16T16:06:05","slug":"women-in-the-workplace-challenged-and-significantly-underrepresented","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/servidor-mxigen1.com\/ceona-antiguo\/business\/industry\/women-in-the-workplace-challenged-and-significantly-underrepresented\/","title":{"rendered":"Women have it tougher in the workplace"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"fusion-fullwidth fullwidth-box fusion-builder-row-1 nonhundred-percent-fullwidth non-hundred-percent-height-scrolling\" style=\"--awb-border-radius-top-left:0px;--awb-border-radius-top-right:0px;--awb-border-radius-bottom-right:0px;--awb-border-radius-bottom-left:0px;--awb-flex-wrap:wrap;\" ><div class=\"fusion-builder-row fusion-row\"><div class=\"fusion-layout-column fusion_builder_column fusion-builder-column-0 fusion_builder_column_1_1 1_1 fusion-one-full fusion-column-first fusion-column-last\" style=\"--awb-bg-size:cover;--awb-margin-bottom:0px;\"><div class=\"fusion-column-wrapper fusion-flex-column-wrapper-legacy\"><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-1\"><p>Women \u2014particularly of color\u2014 continue to be vastly underrepresented in the workplace: McKinsey report.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Since 2015, the first year of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mckinsey.com\/featured-insights\/gender-equality\/women-in-the-workplace-2018\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201cWomen in the Workplace\u201d by McKinsey<\/a>, corporate America has made almost no progress in improving women\u2019s representation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to McKinsey\u2019s most recent index \u2014which surveyed 279 companies employing more than 13 million people\u2014 companies are disadvantaging women in hiring, promotions and manager-level jobs, despite that they earn more bachelor\u2019s degrees than men, and have done so for decades.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">McKinsey reports that men hold up 62% of manager positions, while women hold only 38%.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[ihc-hide-content ihc_mb_type=&#8221;show&#8221; ihc_mb_who=&#8221;3,4,5,6&#8243; ihc_mb_template=&#8221;3&#8243; ]<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If companies continue to hire and promote women to manager at current rates, the number of women in management will increase by just one percentage point over the next ten years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The bad news, however, is that progress isn\u2019t just slow, it\u2019s actually stalled.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Despite public outcry and hand-wringing, little has actually changed and boards remain frighteningly homogenous.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Deloitte found that just 14% of board seats in the Americas are held by women, up just slightly from 12% in 2015. And the proportion of female board chairs\u2014 which is less than 4%\u2014did not change during that time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Companies need to take more decisive action regarding the uneven field women have to compete in, one that starts treating gender diversity like the business priority it is.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/ihc-hide-content]<\/p>\n<h2><b>Other key findings from the report:<\/b><\/h2>\n<\/div><ul style=\"--awb-line-height:23.8px;--awb-icon-width:23.8px;--awb-icon-height:23.8px;--awb-icon-margin:9.8px;--awb-content-margin:33.6px;--awb-circlecolor:#000000;--awb-circle-yes-font-size:12.32px;\" class=\"fusion-checklist fusion-checklist-1 fusion-checklist-default type-icons\"><li class=\"fusion-li-item\" style=\"\"><span class=\"icon-wrapper circle-yes\"><i class=\"fusion-li-icon fa-venus-mars fas\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i><\/span><div class=\"fusion-li-item-content\">\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A third of lesbian women feel like they can\u2019t talk about themselves or their life outside of work.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/li><li class=\"fusion-li-item\" style=\"\"><span class=\"icon-wrapper circle-yes\"><i class=\"fusion-li-icon fa-venus-mars fas\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i><\/span><div class=\"fusion-li-item-content\">\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">55% of women in senior leadership, 48% of lesbian women, and 45% of women in technical fields report they\u2019ve been sexually harassed. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/li><li class=\"fusion-li-item\" style=\"\"><span class=\"icon-wrapper circle-yes\"><i class=\"fusion-li-icon fa-venus-mars fas\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i><\/span><div class=\"fusion-li-item-content\">\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Only 32% of women think that disrespectful behavior toward women is often quickly addressed by their companies, compared to 50% of men. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/li><li class=\"fusion-li-item\" style=\"\"><span class=\"icon-wrapper circle-yes\"><i class=\"fusion-li-icon fa-venus-mars fas\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i><\/span><div class=\"fusion-li-item-content\">\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Just 62% of employees say that in the past year their company has reaffirmed that sexual harassment won\u2019t be tolerated.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/li><li class=\"fusion-li-item\" style=\"\"><span class=\"icon-wrapper circle-yes\"><i class=\"fusion-li-icon fa-venus-mars fas\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i><\/span><div class=\"fusion-li-item-content\">\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">45% of men think women are well represented in leadership when 1 in 10 senior leaders in their company is a woman.
