(World Bank Data)<\/p><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Life expectancy is rising<\/strong> &#8212; Lifespans have been\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ourworldindata.org\/life-expectancy#life-expectancy-has-improved-globally\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">doubling or more<\/a>\u00a0the world over since 1870, persisting\u00a0in more recent decades.\u00a0Female\u00a0and\u00a0male\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/data.worldbank.org\/indicator\/SP.DYN.LE00.IN\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">life expectancy\u00a0<\/a>both increased by more than six years between 1990 and 2016, and the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.un.org\/en\/development\/desa\/population\/publications\/pdf\/mortality\/World-Mortality-2017-Data-Booklet.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gains were biggest in poor countries in Africa and Asia<\/a>.
