{"id":20271,"date":"2019-11-09T06:00:50","date_gmt":"2019-11-09T06:00:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ceo-na.com\/?p=20271"},"modified":"2019-11-08T19:06:02","modified_gmt":"2019-11-08T19:06:02","slug":"global-warming-nasa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/servidor-mxigen1.com\/ceona-antiguo\/news\/global-warming-nasa\/","title":{"rendered":"<Global warming NASA>"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Earth&#8217;s global surface temperatures in 2018 were the 4th warmest since 1880 according to NASA.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>According <a href=\"https:\/\/climate.nasa.gov\/news\/2841\/2018-fourth-warmest-year-in-continued-warming-trend-according-to-nasa-noaa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">to an independent analysis by NASA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)<\/a>,\u00a02018 was an extremely warm year on top of a long-term global warming trend.<\/p>\n<p>Data from\u00a0scientists at NASA\u2019s Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) in New York revealed global temperatures in 2018 were 1.5 degrees Fahrenheit (0.83 degrees Celsius) warmer than the 1951 to 1980. Globally, 2018&#8217;s temperatures rank behind those of 2016, 2017 and 2015. The past five years are, collectively, the warmest years in the modern record.<\/p>\n<p>According to Gavin Schmidt, director of the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies (<em>GISS<\/em>) in New York, since the 1880s, the average global surface temperature has risen about 2 degrees Fahrenheit (1 degree Celsius). This warming has been driven in large part by increased emissions into the atmosphere of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases caused by human activities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe impacts of long-term global warming are already being felt \u2014 in coastal flooding, heat waves, intense precipitation and ecosystem change,\u201d continued to explain Schmidt. Warming trends are strongest in the Arctic region, where 2018 saw the continued loss of sea ice.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, mass loss from the Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets continued to contribute to sea level rise.
