{"id":20297,"date":"2019-02-11T19:42:58","date_gmt":"2019-02-11T19:42:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ceo-na.com\/?p=20297"},"modified":"2019-07-30T21:08:12","modified_gmt":"2019-07-30T21:08:12","slug":"effects-of-the-u-s-government-shutdown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/servidor-mxigen1.com\/ceona-antiguo\/business\/management-leadership\/effects-of-the-u-s-government-shutdown\/","title":{"rendered":"Effects of the U.S. government shutdown"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The\u00a0five-week long US government shutdown\u00a0cost the economy $11 billion.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ceo-na.com\/ceo-life\/health\/whos-to-blame-for-the-u-s-government-shutdown\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The U.S. government shut down on December 22, 2018<\/a>, and after five weeks, the longest in American history, costs have been measured, and the toll is high.<\/p>\n<p>The shutdown cost the U.S. economy $11 billion, as lost output from federal workers, delayed government spending, and reduced demand were the major punch-takers,\u00a0according to\u00a0analysis by the nonpartisan\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbo.gov\/publication\/54937\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Congressional Budget Office (CBO)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>[ihc-hide-content ihc_mb_type=&#8221;show&#8221; ihc_mb_who=&#8221;3,4,5,6&#8243; ihc_mb_template=&#8221;3&#8243; ]<\/p>\n<p>Other costs, according to CBO, were $18 billion from delayed federal spending over the five-week period.<\/p>\n<p>Some economic costs are expected to be reversed as federal workers return to their jobs, but not all of the losses are expected to be recovered. $3 billion is estimated to have been lost permanently, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbo.gov\/publication\/54937\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to the CBO<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The shutdown partially ended when President Trump signed a spending bill to fund the government through February 15.
