Doug Bowser, currently the head of sales and marketing at Nintendo of America, will replace Fils-Aime as president.<\/p>\n<p id=\"oqFIP3\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NintendoAmerica\/status\/1098666321473024000\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fils-Aime said in a news release<\/a>: \u201cNintendo owns a part of my heart forever (&#8230;)\u00a0It\u2019s a part that is filled with gratitude \u2014 for the incredibly talented people I\u2019ve worked with, for the opportunity to represent such a wonderful brand, and most of all, to feel like a member of the world\u2019s most positive and enduring gamer community. As I look forward to departing in both good health and good humor, this is not \u2018game over\u2019 for me, but instead \u2018leveling up\u2019 to more time with my wife, family and friends.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"FlBvFP\">On the other hand, Bowser said: \u201cIt has been my great fortune to work with and be mentored by Reggie for four years at Nintendo of America (&#8230;) And rest assured, we will continue to build on his work to evolve and expand our brand, furthering Nintendo\u2019s global mission of creating smiles. Nintendo named him president and chief operating officer in 2006. Fils-Aime\u2019s introduction to the broader gaming community came in 2004, when he\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/89GB6bC9_N4?t=90\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">appeared onstage at Nintendo\u2019s annual E3 press conference<\/a>\u00a0and greeted the crowd saying, \u201cMy name is Reggie. I\u2019m about kickin\u2019 ass. I\u2019m about takin\u2019 names. And we\u2019re about making games.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"3WoB5G\">As president of Nintendo, Fils-Aime oversaw the launch and success of the company\u2019s wildly popular Wii and Nintendo 3DS platforms, as well as the less successful Wii U, and Nintendo\u2019s current platform, the Switch.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ReArBp\">Doug Bowser\u00a0joined Nintendo in 2015\u00a0as vice president of sales.
