{"id":20634,"date":"2019-03-08T17:14:47","date_gmt":"2019-03-08T17:14:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ceo-na.com\/?p=20634"},"modified":"2019-07-30T20:46:08","modified_gmt":"2019-07-30T20:46:08","slug":"close-the-gender-wage-gap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/servidor-mxigen1.com\/ceona-antiguo\/business\/management-leadership\/close-the-gender-wage-gap\/","title":{"rendered":"Close the gender wage gap!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>OECD studied\u00a0the percentage difference in full-time earnings between men\/women in selected countries.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Everyday it&#8217;s becoming more and more evident that women and the rest of the world are walking out to highlight sexual and domestic violence, as well as\u00a0a huge gulf in equality, particularly\u00a0the wage gap.<\/p>\n<p>The gender wage gap is defined as the difference between median earnings of men and women relative to median earnings of men, and OECD studied\u00a0the percentage difference in full-time earnings between men\/women in selected countries.<\/p>\n<h1>[ihc-hide-content ihc_mb_type=&#8221;show&#8221; ihc_mb_who=&#8221;3,4,5,6&#8243; ihc_mb_template=&#8221;3&#8243; ]<\/h1>\n<h1>Asia<\/h1>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/data.oecd.org\/earnwage\/gender-wage-gap.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">OECD data <em><strong>(1)<\/strong><\/em><\/a> shows that South Korea is the country where the wage gap is widest, as a male worker is set to\u00a0outearn his female counterpart by 34.6%.<\/p>\n<p>This problem is also highly evident in other Asian countries, especially Japan, which was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.japantimes.co.jp\/opinion\/2018\/05\/03\/commentary\/japan-commentary\/japan-can-fix-gaping-gender-gap\/#.XIKemRNKiRs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ranked\u00a0114th out of the 144 countries surveyed by the World Economic Forum (WEF) in 2017<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h1>North America<\/h1>\n<p>Even though things are slightly better in North America, both the U.S. and Canada still have a wage gap of just over 18%.<\/p>\n<p>In Canada, a new report on the country&#8217;s highest-paid CEOs is adding evidence to the argument that women face a &#8220;double-pane glass ceiling&#8221; at the top of Canada&#8217;s corporate ladder.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.policyalternatives.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives<\/a> calculates that of the more than 1,200 named executive officers, or NEOs, at 249 publicly traded companies in Canada, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.ca\/2019\/01\/02\/canada-gender-pay-gap-executives_a_23631843\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">women earn about 68 cents for every dollar made by their male counterparts<\/a>.
