That is also something you do not have in common with new generations, because <a href=\"https:\/\/www.prnewswire.com\/news-releases\/gen-z-the-rise-of-1-8-billion-new-influencers-is-shifting-the-mobility-landscape-300658025.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to PR Newswire<\/a>, Generation Z&#8217;s distinct attitudes and preferences are set to dramatically transform the mobility sector.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Wall Street Journal<\/a>\u00a0reports that members of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ceo-na.com\/business\/entrepreneur\/move-millennials-gen-z\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Generation Z (those born after 1997)<\/a> are buying far fewer new cars than millennials before them.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jdpower.com\/business\/press-releases\/2019-mobility-confidence-index-study-fueled-surveymonkey-audience\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">J.D. Power even estimates<\/a> that Gen Zers will purchase\u00a0about 120,000 fewer new vehicles during 2019 compared with millennials in 2004.<\/p>\n<p>Preference shifts have also presented themselves in the form of\u00a0driver\u2019s license, this because GenZ&#8217;s have left behind the duty to obtain them.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-21293\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ceo-na.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Captura-de-pantalla-2019-05-10-a-las-13.36.56.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"392\" height=\"542\" srcset=\"http:\/\/servidor-mxigen1.com\/ceona-antiguo\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Captura-de-pantalla-2019-05-10-a-las-13.36.56-200x277.png 200w, http:\/\/servidor-mxigen1.com\/ceona-antiguo\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Captura-de-pantalla-2019-05-10-a-las-13.36.56-217x300.png 217w, http:\/\/servidor-mxigen1.com\/ceona-antiguo\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Captura-de-pantalla-2019-05-10-a-las-13.36.56.png 392w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 392px) 100vw, 392px\" \/><\/p>\n<h1>But why?<\/h1>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbinsights.com\/research\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">According to CB Insights<\/a>, there are several reasons that are contributing to teenagers skipping out on their licenses and automotive purchase, these could be:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The high cost of insurance and car loan payments<\/li>\n<li>The ability of smartphones to provide access to ride-hailing, food delivery, and video chat<\/li>\n<li>A more difficult driver\u2019s-ed process<\/li>\n<li>Rising auto prices<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Automakers will inevitably have to start betting on younger generations\u00a0\u2014 who have grown with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ceo-na.com\/business\/innovation-business\/shifting-urban-transport-worldwide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">various mobility options<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 to buy their cars.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.prnewswire.com\/news-releases\/gen-z-the-rise-of-1-8-billion-new-influencers-is-shifting-the-mobility-landscape-300658025.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PR Newswire also reported<\/a> that\u00a0Gen Z customers seem to be more comfortable with the idea of autonomous vehicles and more focused on their function (represented by the vehicle&#8217;s interior design) rather than their form (as showcased by their exteriors),\u00a0primarily concerned with vehicle price and safety.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The automotive industry is starting to explore what Gen Z wants in a car,&#8221; explains\u00a0<span class=\"xn-person\">Lynne Goulding<\/span>, Principal Consultant in <a href=\"https:\/\/ww2.frost.com\/research\/visionary-innovation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Frost &amp; Sullivan&#8217;s Visionary Innovation Group<\/a>, Frost &amp; Sullivan. &#8220;Designing specifically for digital natives means dispensing with standard assumptions behind automotive design (&#8230;) As Gen Z will be more concerned with the interior of the vehicle than the exterior, we will see OEMs place more emphasis on technology and personalisation.
