{"id":21490,"date":"2019-10-29T10:50:20","date_gmt":"2019-10-29T10:50:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ceo-na.com\/?p=21490"},"modified":"2019-10-29T16:51:13","modified_gmt":"2019-10-29T16:51:13","slug":"online-ads-the-next-frontier","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/servidor-mxigen1.com\/ceona-antiguo\/business\/innovation-business\/online-ads-the-next-frontier\/","title":{"rendered":"Online ads, the next frontier"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>During 2018,\u00a0Internet advertising revenue in the US exceeded $100 billion for the first time.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>According to the Interactive Advertising Bureau\u2019s latest\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.iab.com\/insights\/iab-internet-advertising-revenue-report-conducted-by-pricewaterhousecoopers-pwc-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">internet advertising revenue report<\/a>,\u00a0which has been tracking the growth of the online ad market for 23 years,\u00a0Internet advertising revenue in the United States exceeded $100 billion for the first time in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>The online advertising market\u00a0shows no signs of slowing down as brands are shifting their budgets to match changes in media consumption, proving even more\u00a0significant success in the transition from desktop to mobile, who actually, during 2018 accounted for 65% of total digital ad revenues, up from just 9% in 2012, according to Statista, closely matching consumer usage patterns: 71% of online time is spent on a mobile device.<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, the online advertising market is still highly concentrated, with the top 10 ad-selling companies accounting for 75% of revenues. This type of access was once only available through the retail partner to share at their discretion. But with Amazon\u2019s suite of sponsored ads, marketers have unprecedented access to the &#8216;shelves&#8217; where consumers are shopping.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Amazon\u00a0has quietly built a billion-dollar ad business which is growing at a rate of 50% per year.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.emarketer.com\/Chart\/Top-5-Companies-Ranked-by-US-Net-Digital-Ad-Revenue-Share-2018-2019-of-total-digital-ad-spending\/226372\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-21492\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ceo-na.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Captura-de-pantalla-2019-05-24-a-las-13.23.39.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"462\" height=\"564\" srcset=\"http:\/\/servidor-mxigen1.com\/ceona-antiguo\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Captura-de-pantalla-2019-05-24-a-las-13.23.39-200x244.png 200w, http:\/\/servidor-mxigen1.com\/ceona-antiguo\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Captura-de-pantalla-2019-05-24-a-las-13.23.39-246x300.png 246w, http:\/\/servidor-mxigen1.com\/ceona-antiguo\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Captura-de-pantalla-2019-05-24-a-las-13.23.39-400x488.png 400w, http:\/\/servidor-mxigen1.com\/ceona-antiguo\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Captura-de-pantalla-2019-05-24-a-las-13.23.39.png 462w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 462px) 100vw, 462px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>The forecast<\/h2>\n<p>A major milestone in the world of advertising is happening: Digital ad spending will exceed traditional ad spending in the U.S. for the first time ever by 2023, with other media taking a hit.<\/p>\n<p>TV ad spending is expected to decline 2.2% to $70.83 billion this year, largely because there are no elections or big events, such as the Olympics or World Cup.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.emarketer.com\/content\/us-digital-ad-spending-will-surpass-traditional-in-2019\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">eMarketer predicts<\/a> that the presidential election next year will propel TV ad spending back into positive growth, before falling again in the following years, but directories, such as the Yellow Pages, will not be able to avoid a big hit\u2014dropping 19% in 2019. Traditional print (newspapers and magazines) spending is a close second, as it is predicted to drop nearly 18%.
