{"id":21979,"date":"2019-07-22T12:05:34","date_gmt":"2019-07-22T12:05:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ceo-na.com\/?p=21979"},"modified":"2019-07-22T17:08:17","modified_gmt":"2019-07-22T17:08:17","slug":"home-depot-trump-scandal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/servidor-mxigen1.com\/ceona-antiguo\/news\/home-depot-trump-scandal\/","title":{"rendered":"<Home Depot Trump scandal>"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"post-headline \">Home Depot shoppers say they&#8217;re boycotting the store, this is why.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The Home Depot cofounder Bernie Marcus is an avowed supporter of US President Donald Trump, and as he plans\u00a0to donate to his 2020 reelection bid, his shoppers are angry.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The billionaire sparked an online backlash when <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ajc.com\/news\/local\/atlanta-billionaire-plans-give-almost-all-away\/gHi8FZhfwh4dFmaXCQksKK\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">he recently\u00a0told\u00a0the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he planned to donate to the president&#8217;s 2020 reelection bid<\/a>. Marcus said that while he didn&#8217;t &#8220;agree with every move&#8221; Trump had made, the president had still &#8220;produced more than anybody else.&#8221; He added: &#8220;If we look at this country, I would say that we are better off today than we were eight years ago or six years ago.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>For years, the billionaire, along with the early Home Depot backer Ken Langone, have functioned as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/story\/2014\/03\/the-rich-strike-back-104753\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mega donors\u00a0<\/a>for the Republican Party. Marcus\u00a0donated\u00a0$7 million to Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign, according to the Center for Responsive Politics, but this time, his latest comments appear to have prompted calls on Twitter for a boycott.<\/p>\n<p>Some customers claim to be cutting up their Home Depot cards, and say they plan to shop at competitors like Lowe\u2019s and Menards under the hashtag #BoycottHomeDepot.<\/p>\n<p>In response, a Home Depot representative said that Marcus retired from the company more than 15 years ago, and therefore \u201cisn\u2019t speaking on behalf of the company. In fact, as a standard practice, the company does not endorse presidential candidates&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Marcus retired from Home Depot back in 2002.
