But it\u2019s easy to delete the information if you know how.\u00a0<\/i><\/strong><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Online privacy remains a huge talking point. So much so that Senator Chris Coons, D-Del., recently wrote to Amazon asking how it goes about storing data regarding consumers who use the company\u2019s Alexa-controlled Echo speaker.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Amazon Echo is a wireless speaker which is also capable of interpreting and carrying out instructions on behalf of the user. Using nothing but the sound of your voice, you can ask Alexa to play music, search the web, create to-do and shopping lists, shop online, get instant weather reports, and control popular smart-home products\u2014all while your smartphone stays in your pocket.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In June, Amazon\u2019s VP of public policy, Brian Huseman, responded by admitting that the company stores Alexa transcripts unless a customer specifically requests for them to be deleted.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Huseman insisted that Amazon retains this data to improve Alexa\u2019s response, adding that audio is only sent to Amazon when an Amazon Echo hears the wake word, namely \u201cAlexa.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Yet in May, Amazon made it easier to delete the things you ask Alexa. Here\u2019s how:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">First, you can say \u201cAlexa, delete everything I said today,\u201d or \u201cAlexa, delete what I just said.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But, if you want to delete things you said earlier, do this:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Open the Alexa app on your phone.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tap the menu icon on the top-left corner of the app.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tap \u201cSettings\u201d at the bottom.\u2032<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tap \u201cAlexa Account\u201d at the top of the page.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Select \u201cHistory.\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, this process only lets you delete things one by one. If you want to delete everything at once, do the following:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Visit <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/hz\/mycd\/myx#\/home\/devices\/1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Amazon\u2019s Device page<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Select the menu button to the left of the Echo device you\u2019d like to manage. (The menu button looks like three little dots stacked on top of one another.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tap \u201cManage Voice Recordings\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tap \u201cDelete.\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Amazon stores everything you ask Alexa indefinitely.
