{"id":22146,"date":"2019-09-16T06:01:14","date_gmt":"2019-09-16T06:01:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ceo-na.com\/?p=22146"},"modified":"2019-09-13T17:03:44","modified_gmt":"2019-09-13T17:03:44","slug":"drug-overdoses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/servidor-mxigen1.com\/ceona-antiguo\/news\/drug-overdoses\/","title":{"rendered":"<Drug overdoses>"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Preliminary data\u00a0shows reported drug overdoses declined 4.2% in 2018, after rising precipitously for decades.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/nchs\/nvss\/vsrr\/drug-overdose-data.htm#dashboard\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Preliminary data\u00a0from The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)<\/a> showed that drug overdoses declined 4.2% in the United States during 2018 after rising precipitously for decades.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It looks like this is the first turnaround since the opioid crisis began,&#8221; said\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcleanhospital.org\/biography\/bertha-madras\">Bertha Madras<\/a>\u00a0who served on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/ondcp\/presidents-commission\/\">President Trump&#8217;s opioid commission<\/a>, and is a professor of psychobiology at Harvard Medical School. She says it won&#8217;t be entirely clear until the CDC finalizes the numbers but, &#8220;&#8230;the tide could be turning.&#8221; It was also reported that although the country as a whole achieved a 4.2% drop in overdose deaths in the provisional data, many states vary widely from that number.<\/p>\n<p>Farida Ahmad, mortality surveillance lead of the National Center for Health Statistics at the CDC, says the numbers released by CDC are not final, but they should be close, though.
