Decades later, President Franklin Roosevelt officially declared that Thanksgiving should always be celebrated on the fourth Thursday of the month to encourage earlier holiday shopping.<\/p>\n<p>Since then, the legacy of thanks and the feast have survived centuries, and in 2019,\u00a0America celebrates its 399th Thanksgiving.<\/p>\n<p>To understand more about this holiday, which began in the\u00a0Fall 1621 in Plymouth\u00a0when the Massachusetts Governor William Bradford planned a festival to give thanks for around 90 Native Americans, here&#8217;s a look at Thanksgiving Day numbers:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsa.gov\/news\/releases\/2019\/11\/13\/era-travel-milestones-tsa-expects-another-record-breaking-holiday-season\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TSA projects<\/a>\u00a026.8 million people will travel by flight during the 2019 Thanksgiving holiday.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nass.usda.gov\/Statistics_by_State\/Iowa\/Publications\/Livestock_Report\/2019\/US-Turkeys-Raised-10-19.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">USDA projects<\/a>\u00a0that 240 million turkeys will be raised in the United States in 2019.<\/li>\n<li>President Harry S. Truman started the tradition of receiving\u00a0a turkey at the White House a few days before Thanksgiving.\u00a0President George H. W.
