{"id":23813,"date":"2020-03-05T13:19:56","date_gmt":"2020-03-05T13:19:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ceo-na.com\/?p=23813"},"modified":"2020-03-05T19:19:23","modified_gmt":"2020-03-05T19:19:23","slug":"old-problem-still-unacceptable","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/servidor-mxigen1.com\/ceona-antiguo\/business\/management-leadership\/old-problem-still-unacceptable\/","title":{"rendered":"No to a female President, yes to a female CEO"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Both men and women aren\u2019t totally cool with women running the show.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Gender is still a barrier to see a women elected as President of the United States, at least\u00a0that&#8217;s what the\u00a0Reykjavik Index reveals, a survey of attitudes toward gender in the Group of Seven industrialized countries, as well as Brazil, China, India and Russia, conducted by consulting firm Kantar and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.womenpoliticalleaders.org\/about\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-ylk=\"subsec:paragraph;cpos:2;elm:context_link;itc:0\" data-rapid-parsed=\"slk\" data-rapid_p=\"1\" data-v9y=\"1\">Women Political Leaders<\/a>, a nonprofit global coalition of female politicians based in Iceland.<\/p>\n<p>The study found that only 49% of American men would feel very comfortable with a woman serving as the head of the government. By comparison, women seemed a bit more positive to seeing their own leadership potential, but still stood out as pretty sexist as only 59% of women said they would feel comfortable with a woman in charge.<\/p>\n<p>Michelle Harrison, CEO of Kantar Public, a public policy consulting and research agency, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.huffpost.com\/entry\/half-us-men-uncomfortable-with-female-political-leaders_n_5dd30b73e4b0263fbc993674?ncid=engmodushpmg00000004&amp;utm_source=Eurasia+Group+Signal&amp;utm_campaign=626bb63e90-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2019_11_22_12_13&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_term=0_e605619869-626bb63e90-170130337\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said to\u00a0The Huffington Post<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cWomen in all walks of life have a harder job on the journey to leadership than men (&#8230;) I don\u2019t think it\u2019s telling us anything specific about a particular woman. Leaders always break through (&#8230;)\u00a0The results shouldn\u2019t be interpreted to mean a woman doesn\u2019t have a shot at the top spot, but it\u2019s been clear that a female politician\u2019s\u00a0road is just going to be a lot rougher.&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>When it comes to the countries most comfortable in having a women in power, Canada and the U.K. had a\u00a0majority of respondents\u00a0say they would be more comfortable with a female head of state. Germany (which currently has a female Chancellor), Japan, and Russia were the countries least comfortable with a female head of state.<\/p>\n<p>In some of the most interesting parts of the data, it is seen that\u00a0both men and woman are more at ease with female leaders in the private sector.<\/p>\n<div class=\"content-list-component yr-content-list-text text\" data-rapid-cpos=\"7\" data-rapid-subsec=\"paragraph\" data-rapid-parsed=\"subsec\">\n<p>For the report, the researchers surveyed 22,000 adults ages 18 to 64 across the 11 countries \u2015 including 2,000 Americans. The survey asked about women\u2019s and men\u2019s suitability for leadership roles across a number of areas, including government; business sectors like media, fashion, technology; and child care. This is the second year Kantar and WPL have done this study, but the first time they\u2019ve included countries outside the G-7, which includes the U.S., U.K., France, Germany, Italy, Japan and Canada.<\/p>\n<div class=\"content-list-component yr-content-list-text text\" data-rapid-cpos=\"14\" data-rapid-subsec=\"paragraph\" data-rapid-parsed=\"subsec\">\n<p>The report finds discrimination against men, too. In every country, men were seen as less suitable leaders when it came to child care.
