{"id":23879,"date":"2020-01-13T09:00:43","date_gmt":"2020-01-13T09:00:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ceo-na.com\/?p=23879"},"modified":"2020-01-13T15:03:46","modified_gmt":"2020-01-13T15:03:46","slug":"record-year-for-americas-international-students","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/servidor-mxigen1.com\/ceona-antiguo\/ceo-life\/travel\/record-year-for-americas-international-students\/","title":{"rendered":"America&#8217;s international students"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The impact of America&#8217;s international students during 2019 has been revealed.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The 2018\/19 academic year became the fourth consecutive year with more than one million international students enrolled in U.S. schools, setting an\u00a0an all-time high for the country, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iie.org\/Why-IIE\/Announcements\/2019\/11\/Number-of-International-Students-in-the-United-States-Hits-All-Time-High\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to\u00a0the\u00a02019 Open Doors Report on International Educational Exchange<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Data from the index also revealed that\u00a0international students contributed $44.7 billion to the U.S. economy in 2018, an increase of 5.5% from the previous year. China remained the largest source of international students in the United States for the tenth consecutive year, with 369,548 students in undergraduate, graduate, non-degree, and optional practical training (OPT) programs during the 2018\/19 academic year, a 1.7 percent increase from 2017\/18. The research of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iie.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Institute of International Education<\/a> reveals interesting data:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>51.6% of international students in the U.S. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ceo-na.com\/business\/entrepreneur\/the-evolving-status-of-stem\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pursued STEM fields<\/a> in 2018\/19, with engineering standing out as the largest academic field, with 21.1% of all international students.<\/li>\n<li>European countries remain the most popular destinations for U.S. study abroad students. The U.K., Italy, Spain, France, and Germany hosted the most U.S. study abroad students.<\/li>\n<li>The number of U.S. students abroad grew by double digits in Japan, Netherlands, Greece,\u00a0Argentina, and Israel.<\/li>\n<li>The number of study abroad students in Latin America and the Caribbean fell by 1.4%.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cWe are happy to see the continued growth in the number of international students in the United States and U.S. students studying abroad (&#8230;) Promoting international student mobility remains a top priority for the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and we want even more students in the future to see the United States as the best destination to earn their degrees.
