Jim Farley, aged 57, president of new business technology and strategy, who joined Ford in 2007 as global head of Marketing and Sales, will become COO effective\u00a0March 1.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI\u2019m thrilled and humbled by the opportunity to work with Jim Hackett and the entire Ford team to advance our vision to design increasingly intelligent vehicles and connect them to the world around us, all to make life better for our customers and communities,\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/media.ford.com\/content\/fordmedia\/fna\/us\/en\/news\/2020\/02\/07\/ford-announces-senior-leadership-changes.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Farley said through an official company statement<\/a>.<\/strong> \u201cFord is blessed with great people and an incredible brand, and together we will build a very bright future.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Hinrich\u2019s departure is unexpected, and comes after the company\u2019s revenue fell in the fourth quarter 5% to $39.7 billion and\u00a0warned that its fourth-quarter results would include a $2.2 billion charge\u00a0related to its pension plans, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autonews.com\/manufacturing\/ford-loses-17b-q4-pension-charge-stock-slumps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to Automotive News<\/a>.\u00a0For the full year, Ford posted net income of $47 million, down from $3.7 billion in 2018.\u00a0Ford Credit posted full-year earnings before taxes of $3 billion, its best results in nine years.<\/p>\n<p>Ford also announced Hau Thai-Tang, chief product development and purchasing officer, will take on an expanded role, reporting to Farley, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2020\/02\/07\/ford-to-name-jim-farley-chief-operating-officer-in-leadership-shakeup.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to CNBC<\/a>.
