{"id":24939,"date":"2020-02-12T22:01:41","date_gmt":"2020-02-12T22:01:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ceo-na.com\/?p=24939"},"modified":"2020-02-12T22:46:16","modified_gmt":"2020-02-12T22:46:16","slug":"us-household-debt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/servidor-mxigen1.com\/ceona-antiguo\/news\/us-household-debt\/","title":{"rendered":"<US Household Debt>"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>US households added $193 billion of debt in the fourth quarter.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>US households, including mortgages, credit card, auto, and student debt, now holds more than $14 trillion of\u00a0debt, a new record,\u00a0according to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York\u2019s latest\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newyorkfed.org\/microeconomics\/hhdc.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Report on Household Debt and Credit<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This means that the total U.S. household debt rose by\u00a0<span class=\"\" data-value=\"601000000000\" data-original=\"$601 billion\" data-symbol=\"$\">$601 billion<\/span>\u00a0in the fourth quarter from a year earlier, or 4.4%, surpassing\u00a0<span class=\"\" data-value=\"14000000000000\" data-original=\"$14 trillion\" data-symbol=\"$\">$14 trillion<\/span>\u00a0for the first time, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2020-02-11\/u-s-household-debt-exceeds-14-trillion-for-the-first-time?srnd=premium&amp;utm_source=morning_brew\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bloomberg reports<\/a>, that\u2019s\u00a0<span class=\"\" data-value=\"1500000000000\" data-original=\"$1.5 trillion\" data-symbol=\"$\">$1.5 trillion<\/span>\u00a0above the previous peak in the third quarter of 2008. Breaking down the numbers, mortgage borrowing rose by\u00a0<span class=\"\" data-value=\"120000000000\" data-original=\"$120 billion\" data-symbol=\"$\">$120 billion<\/span>\u00a0to\u00a0<span class=\"\" data-value=\"9560000000000\" data-original=\"$9.56 trillion\" data-symbol=\"$\">$9.56 trillion, while student loan balances grew by $10 billion in the fourth quarter, which\u00a0backs young consumers trying to build up credit.\u00a0Auto loans, on the other hand, rose to\u00a0$1.33 trillion, the highest percentage since the third quarter of 2011.
