{"id":25343,"date":"2020-03-20T08:00:14","date_gmt":"2020-03-20T08:00:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ceo-na.com\/?p=25343"},"modified":"2020-03-20T14:05:05","modified_gmt":"2020-03-20T14:05:05","slug":"end-of-an-era","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/servidor-mxigen1.com\/ceona-antiguo\/news\/end-of-an-era\/","title":{"rendered":"<End of an era>"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After 46 years at UPS, CEO David Abney is\u00a0stepping down from his role at UPS.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Carol Tom\u00e9\u2019s heading out of retirement and into the fire after David Abney announced he is to step down from the chief executive position at UPS, the 10th largest private employer in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Abney will serve as board chairman until he retires in September, but will remain as a special consultant through the end of 2020, the company said. Tom\u00e9, on the other hand, takes her first full-time role since ending her 18-year stint as Home Depot\u2019s CFO last year. She\u00a0has been a member of the UPS board of directors since 2003 and currently served as the chairperson of its audit committee.\u00a0Tom\u00e9 is\u00a0largely credited, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/ups-names-carol-tome-chief-executive-11584015226?mod=searchresults&amp;page=1&amp;pos=1&amp;utm_source=morning_brew\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">per The Wall Street Journal<\/a>,\u00a0with repairing Home Depot after the 2008 financial crisis\u2014an experience that\u2019ll come in handy as the country heads towards another recession.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.morningbrew.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">According to Morning Brew<\/a>, Amazon is pouring money into its own logistics network, reducing an important rev stream for UPS. So Tom\u00e9 will likely work to speed up UPS\u2019s delivery systems to keep pace with growing e-comm demand.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf someone is going to disrupt our business, it should be us. We have the largest and most sophisticated logistics network,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ceo-na.com\/executive-interviews\/on-the-road-to-disruption\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said David Abney to our readers during his chat with CEO North America<\/a>.\u00a0\u201cAll companies, including UPS, have got to transform. They have to change as quickly as the new technologies.
