Quibi launches its mobile streaming services.<\/p>\n

The first major launch of the coronavirus pandemic is here, as Quibi released its\u00a0mobile streaming app promising to deliver \u201cquick bites\u201d of video entertainment.\u00a0The service will cost $4.99 with ads or $7.99 per month without ads. It offers a 90-day free trial if you sign up before the end of April.<\/p>\n

Led by former chair of The Walt Disney Studios Jeffrey Katzenberg and former HPE CEO Meg Whitman,\u00a0Quibi\u00a0\u00a0is\u00a0launching with nearly 50 shows today with personalities of the likes of\u00a0Chrissy Teigen,\u00a0Liam Hemsworth, and Sophie Turner. According to TechCrunch<\/a>,\u00a0Quibi says it will be delivering more than 25 new episodes every day, including segments of what the company is calling Daily Essentials \u2014 news and entertainment shows like \u201cLast Night\u2019s Late Night\u201d from Entertainment Weekly and \u201cThe Replay\u201d from ESPN.<\/p>\n

As consumers are spending a\u00a0lot<\/em>\u00a0more time streaming, per Emerging Tech Brew’s\u00a0COVID-19 Traffic Report<\/a>, Quibi wants to seize this moment and lead whatever there is left, however, a tough battle weighs in with other platforms like Youtube and TikTok, which are free.<\/p>\n
