Tom Hanks had a special gift for a bullied boy in Australia.<\/p>\n

Corona De Vries, an eight-year-old from the Gold Coast in\u00a0Queensland, wrote to Tom Hanks and his wife, Rita Wilson, who spent more than two weeks in quarantine after testing positive for Covid-19.\u00a0The boy wrote to Hanks saying: \u201cI heard on the news you and your wife had caught the coronavirus, are you OK?\u201d The letter\u00a0 continues to explain that the young De Vries has suffered in school because people call him \u2018the coronavirus.\u2019 \u201cI get very sad and angry when people call me this.\u201d<\/p>\n

But Tom Hanks, being the genuine good guy he is,\u00a0had a beautiful and inspiring response for the young De Vries.<\/p>\n

\u201cYour letter made my wife and I feel so wonderful! You know, you are the only person I\u2019ve ever known to have the name Corona \u2013 like the ring around the sun, a crown,\u201d the double Oscar winner wrote to the boy.<\/strong> \u201cI thought this typewriter would suit you,\u201d an image of the letter showed. \u201cAsk a grown up how it works. And use it to write me back (…)\u00a0\u201cP.S. You got a friend in ME!\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This has shed some good news on a world constantly overwhelmed by news of contagious outbreaks and unemployment. Vouge reports that Hanks appeared to be recovered enough from COVID-19 to\u00a0host\u00a0Saturday Night Live<\/em>\u2019s first virtual episode<\/a>\u00a0earlier in April, and now, it appears he\u2019s back in full altruistic form. And not a moment too soon, because as Hanks goes, so goes the nation.<\/p>\n

Hey folks. Good News: One week after testing Positive, in self-isolation, the symptoms are much the same. No fever but the blahs. Folding the laundry and doing the dishes leads to a nap on the couch. Bad news: My wife @ritawilson has won 6 straight hands of Gin Rummy and leads by 201 points. But I have\u00a0learned not to spread my Vegemite so thick. I travelled here with a typewriter, one I used\u00a0to\u00a0love. We are all in this together. Flatten the curve. Hanx<\/a><\/p>\n
