{"id":26219,"date":"2020-04-28T18:54:59","date_gmt":"2020-04-28T18:54:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ceo-na.com\/?p=26219"},"modified":"2020-04-28T18:57:49","modified_gmt":"2020-04-28T18:57:49","slug":"aitr-travel-recovery","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/servidor-mxigen1.com\/ceona-antiguo\/news\/aitr-travel-recovery\/","title":{"rendered":"<Air travel recovery>"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Boeing CEO expects it to take two to three years for air travel to recover.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Boeing\u00a0CEO Dave Calhoun told shareholders Monday that air travel demand will take two or three years to recover to last year\u2019s levels, another problem for the manufacturer that was reeling from the 737 Max grounding before the\u00a0coronavirus pandemic, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2020\/04\/27\/coronavirus-boeing-ceo-says-air-travel-rebound-could-take-2-or-3-years-board-approved.html?utm_source=morning_brew\">according to CNBC<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Air travel demand in the U.S. is about 5% of what it was a year ago and airlines have parked more than a third of the country\u2019s fleet, while some carriers are planning to defer orders of new planes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are in an unpredictable and fast-changing environment, and it is difficult to estimate when the situation will stabilize,\u201d Calhoun said in a webcast of the company\u2019s annual shareholders meeting. \u201cWhen it does, the commercial market will be smaller, and our customers\u2019 needs will be different.\u201d<\/p>\n<h1>Stacking problems<\/h1>\n<p>Cancellations are already piling up\u00a0for Boeing as airlines scrap orders for dozens of 737 Max planes, the jetliner that has been grounded since March 2019 after two fatal crashes killed all 346 people aboard the flights.<\/p>\n<p>Boeing is offering employees buyouts and other voluntary leaves but other measures haven\u2019t been ruled out as the company tries to\u00a0reduce payroll costs.
