There are \u201clots of vaccines that look good out of Phase 1 that don\u2019t turn out to be good products,\u201d explains Daniel Salmon, a director at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.<\/p>\n<div class=\"zn-body__paragraph speakable\">If future studies go well, the company&#8217;s vaccine could be available to the public as early as January, Dr. Tal Zaks, Moderna&#8217;s chief medical officer, <a href=\"https:\/\/edition.cnn.com\/2020\/05\/18\/health\/coronavirus-vaccine-moderna-early-results\/index.html?utm_source=morning_brew\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told CNN<\/a>. &#8220;This is absolutely good news and news that we think many have been waiting for for quite some time,&#8221; Zaks said. The results of the study, which was led by the National Institutes of Health, have not been peer reviewed or published in a medical journal.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"zn-body__paragraph speakable\">Moderna, based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, is one of eight developers worldwide doing human clinical trials with a vaccine against the novel coronavirus, according to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/who-documents-detail\/draft-landscape-of-covid-19-candidate-vaccines\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the World Health Organization<\/a>.
