Both countries, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gzeromedia.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">GZERO Media reports<\/a>, are reluctant to embrace labor market and pension reforms in exchange for EU rescue money, marking an unprecedented act of solidarity in almost seven decades of European integration.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/us-eu-summit\/eu-reaches-truly-historic-deal-on-pandemic-recovery-after-fractious-summit-idUSKCN24M0DF?utm_source=Eurasia+Group+Signal&amp;utm_campaign=970c9fb011-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2020_07_21_11_32&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_term=0_e605619869-970c9fb011-170283049\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Reuters adds<\/a> that leaders hope the 750 billion euro ($857.33 billion) recovery fund and its related 1.1 trillion euro 2021-2027 budget will help repair the continent\u2019s deepest recession since World War Two after the coronavirus outbreak shut down economies. World shares climbed to their highest since February and the euro briefly hit its strongest since March on news of the deal.\u00a0While strong in symbolism, the deal came at the cost of cuts to proposed investment in climate-friendly funds and did not set conditions for disbursements to countries, such as Hungary and Poland, seen as breaching democratic values.<\/p>\n<p>The recovery plan, like any deal, is\u00a0subject to parliamentary approval in all EU member states, so it will still be a long time until anyone sees any of the EU relief cash.
