{"id":27356,"date":"2020-12-27T08:02:12","date_gmt":"2020-12-27T08:02:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ceo-na.com\/?p=27356"},"modified":"2020-12-24T21:49:43","modified_gmt":"2020-12-24T21:49:43","slug":"companies-discuss-diversity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/servidor-mxigen1.com\/ceona-antiguo\/news\/companies-discuss-diversity\/","title":{"rendered":"<Companies discuss diversity>"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ArticleHeader-headline\">40% of companies discussed diversity on earnings calls, up from 4% in prior quarter.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rbc.com\/diversity-inclusion\/diversity-inclusion-at-rbc.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">According to\u00a0new data from a RBC analysis<\/a>, 40% of S&amp;P 500 companies discussed diversity, equality and inclusion policies during second quarter earnings calls, up from 4% in the first quarter, and 6% during the same quarter a year ago\u00a0amid pressure for companies to overhaul things like hiring and promotion practices.<\/p>\n<p>Since George Floyd was killed by Minneapolis police officers in May,\u00a0many companies came out in support of protesters and pledged renewed commitments to fighting systemic racism. According to RBC, 38% of S&amp;P 500 companies have since announced initiatives and action plans since that tragic event, however, despite the hype, many are quick to note that it\u2019s one thing for companies to speak in vague, over-arching terms about their commitment to equality in the workforce, while it\u2019s quite another for that commitment to play out on the ground level.<\/p>\n<p>According to an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.edelman.com\/sites\/g\/files\/aatuss191\/files\/2020-06\/2020%20Edelman%20Trust%20Barometer%20Specl%20Rept%20Brand%20Trust%20in%202020.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Edelman Trust Barometer Special Report<\/a>\u00a0from June, which RBC cites, 64% of U.S. respondents said that companies taking steps to ensure that their ranks are\u00a0reflective of society as a whole was important in earning and maintaining consumer trust. Additionally, 63% of the 2,000 respondents said that brands that issue statements in support of racial equality must also install concrete policies to \u201cavoid being seen &#8230; as exploitative or as opportunists.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2020\/08\/13\/40percent-of-companies-discussed-diversity-on-earnings-calls-up-from-4percent-in-prior-quarter-new-data-shows.html?utm_source=morning_brew\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNBC adds<\/a> that it\u2019s traditionally been nearly impossible to track progress at S&amp;P 500 companies because they are not required to\u00a0disclose statistics on the composition of their workforce.\u00a0RBC\u2019s data is through August seventh, when roughly 90% of S&amp;P 500 companies had reported quarterly results.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"text-script\">&#8220;Diversity and growth are not just integrated, but inseparable.
