{"id":27481,"date":"2020-09-07T08:37:46","date_gmt":"2020-09-07T08:37:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ceo-na.com\/?p=27481"},"modified":"2020-09-07T13:39:54","modified_gmt":"2020-09-07T13:39:54","slug":"walmart-wants-a-bid-for-tiktok","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/servidor-mxigen1.com\/ceona-antiguo\/news\/walmart-wants-a-bid-for-tiktok\/","title":{"rendered":"<Walmart wants a bid for TikTok>"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Walmart confirmed it\u2019s teaming up with Microsoft in a bid for TikTok.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Walmart\u00a0announced plans\u00a0to Teams up with Microsoft to purchase TikTok\u2019s U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand operations\u00a0in a deal that\u2019s likely to be in the<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>$20 billion to $30 billion range.<\/p>\n<p>Through an official statement, Walmart said\u00a0TikTok\u2019s integration of e-commerce and advertising \u201cis a clear benefit to creators and users in those markets\u201d at a time it hopes to unseat rival Amazon Prime. The company, however, did not say how it would use TikTok or whether it would be part of Walmart+.\u00a0\u201cWe believe a potential relationship with TikTok US in partnership with Microsoft could add this key functionality and provide Walmart with an important way for us to reach and serve omnichannel customers as well as grow our third-party marketplace and advertising businesses,\u201d the statement read. \u201cWe are confident that a Walmart and Microsoft partnership would meet both the expectations of US TikTok users while satisfying the concerns of US government regulators.\u201d The Trump administration <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/interface\/2020\/8\/18\/21372087\/tiktok-sale-ramifications-splinternet-china-trump\">forced TikTok&#8217;s Chinese owners to sell<\/a> the video app to a U.S. company over national security concerns.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2020\/08\/27\/walmart-is-teaming-up-with-microsoft-on-tiktok-bid.html?utm_source=morning_brew\">According to CNBC<\/a>,\u00a0Walmart spokesman Randy Hargrove declined to say how the two companies would split ownership of TikTok, if they had the winning bid, and whether the retailer would be the majority owner. The retail giant is pursuing the acquisition at a time when it\u2019s trying to better compete with\u00a0Amazon. It\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2020\/07\/07\/walmarts-answer-to-amazon-prime-set-to-launch-in-july-according-to-report.html\">plans to launch a membership program<\/a>, called Walmart+, soon. The subscription-based service is the retailer\u2019s answer to Amazon Prime, which includes original TV shows and movies. If approved, the deal would give Walmart and Microsoft access to hundreds of millions of consumers who could buy their products or become a lucrative audience for ads. In a filing this week, TikTok said it has nearly 100 million monthly active U.S. users.
