{"id":27613,"date":"2020-09-14T17:28:55","date_gmt":"2020-09-14T17:28:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ceo-na.com\/?p=27613"},"modified":"2020-09-14T18:14:18","modified_gmt":"2020-09-14T18:14:18","slug":"softbank-sells-arm-holdings-to-nvidia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/servidor-mxigen1.com\/ceona-antiguo\/news\/softbank-sells-arm-holdings-to-nvidia\/","title":{"rendered":"<SoftBank sells Arm Holdings\u00a0to Nvidia>"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SoftBank has agreed to\u00a0sell Arm Holdings\u00a0to Nvidia for $40 billion.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>SoftBank, the Japanese conglomerate famous for its eccentric leader, Masayoshi Son, and big bets on the tech sector, has agreed to sell British chip designer Arm Holdings to\u00a0Nvidia Corp, who has claimed fame for its graphics chips for videogames but now wants in on the markets of\u00a0artificial intelligence and self-driving cars, in a deal for more than $40 billion.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/us-arm-holdings-m-a-nvidia\/nvidia-nears-deal-to-buy-chip-designer-arm-for-more-than-40-billion-sources-say-idUSKBN2630UE?utm_source=morning_brew\">Reuters reports<\/a> that arm supplies the chip technology for virtually all mobile devices such as phones and tablets but is also expanding into processors for cars, datacenter services and other devices.\u00a0The terms would mark a big win for the Japanese company which has struggled to jump-start growth in the business, according to the Wall Street Journal, which reported on the deal earlier.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.moneycontrol.com\/news\/technology\/softbank-sells-arm-to-nvidia-for-40-billion-5834341.html\">According to Money Control,<\/a> the Nvidia-Arm deal would bring Nvidia\u2019s technology through ARM\u2019s network. As part of NVIDIA, ARM will continue to operate its open-licensing model while maintaining the global customer neutrality.\u00a0Nvidia will build on Arm\u2019s R&amp;D presence in the UK, establishing a new global centre in AI research at Arm\u2019s Cambridge campus. It will also invest in an Arm-powered AI supercomputer, training facilities for developers and a startup incubator, which is said to attract the world\u2019s research talent and create a platform for innovation and industry partnerships in fields such as healthcare, robotics and self-driving cars.\u00a0<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cArm will remain headquartered in Cambridge. We will expand on this great site and build a world-class AI research facility, supporting\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nvidianews.nvidia.com\/news\/nvidia-to-acquire-arm-for-40-billion-creating-worlds-premier-computing-company-for-the-age-of-ai?ncid=so-twit-58914#cid=gnl_so-twit_en-us\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">developments in healthcare, life sciences, robotics, self-driving cars<\/a>\u00a0and other fields.
