Business leaders are asking the important question to Joe Biden: What\u2019s in it for me?<\/p>\n

Here are the six things biz leaders want from the Joe Biden – Kamala Harris administration to come, per Morning Brew<\/a>.<\/p>\n

1. Peaceful transfer of power (If that is still possible):<\/strong>\u00a0Nothing makes execs antsy quite like a sitting president resisting a central component of the democratic process, so a smooth transition is\u00a0priority numero uno<\/a>\u00a0for biz leaders; JPMorgan\u2019s CEO Jamie Dimon urged President Trump to \u201chonor the decision of the voters and support a peaceful transition of power,\u201d while billionaire investor Bill Ackman called on the president to \u201cconcede graciously.\u201d Trump has not yet conceded, and it appears he never will. In fact,\u00a0President Donald J. Trump declared an emergency<\/a> in the District of Columbia and ordered Federal assistance to supplement the District\u2019s response efforts due to the emergency conditions resulting from the 59th Presidential Inauguration from January 11 to January 24, 2021.<\/p>\n

2. Stomp out the coronavirus:<\/strong>\u00a0The pandemic sent a shockwave across the global economy this spring, and while conditions are slowly picking up, many businesses remain in a deep hole. Biden\u2019s\u00a0said<\/a>\u00a0he can\u2019t end the pandemic by \u201cflipping a switch,\u201d but biz leaders hope a more hands-on approach compared to President Trump\u2019s can lead to a quicker economic recovery. Biden is expected to announce his coronavirus task force today.<\/p>\n

3. Improve trade relations:<\/strong>\u00a0During his tenure as president, President Trump launched a trade war with China and got into bitter scuffles with longstanding economic partners like the EU. Biz leaders, who generally oppose trade barriers like tariffs because they mess with supply chains and raise prices, hope Biden will restore\u00a0friendlier<\/a>\u00a0trade relations with other countries.<\/p>\n

4. Boringness:<\/strong>\u00a0Whereas President Trump\u2019s policies fostered a mostly favorable corporate environment, it came with a\u00a0lot of baggage<\/a>. “Investors spent the last four years one tweet away from major market moves,” Ed Mills, Washington policy analyst at Raymond James, told CNN. Corporate America is looking for more predictability under Biden.<\/p>\n

5. Access to high-skilled workers:<\/strong>\u00a0Silicon Valley leaders will be hoping for a reversal of President Trump\u2019s restrictions on H-1B visas, which tech companies use to bring in talented workers from abroad. Biden plans to\u00a0increase the number<\/a>\u00a0of high-skilled visas.<\/p>\n

6. No tax hike:<\/strong>\u00a0Biden has pledged to\u00a0raise the corporate tax rate<\/a>, which businesses no-likey. Their only hope is a Republican controlled Senate blocking Biden\u2019s tax agenda.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
