{"id":28702,"date":"2021-01-19T20:25:29","date_gmt":"2021-01-19T20:25:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ceo-na.com\/?p=28702"},"modified":"2021-01-20T02:28:15","modified_gmt":"2021-01-20T02:28:15","slug":"2020s-most-powerful-women-in-business","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/servidor-mxigen1.com\/ceona-antiguo\/uncategorized\/2020s-most-powerful-women-in-business\/","title":{"rendered":"2020s most powerful women in business"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In this moment of crisis, Fortune listed the top 23 women in business and asked: How are they using their influence to shape the wider world for the better?<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h6>Photographed above:\u00a0General Motors CEO Mary Barra (No. 2 on the ranking)<\/h6>\n<p>2020 will be the year when we finally say goodbye to business as usual.<\/p>\n<p>From <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ceo-na.com\/business\/management-leadership\/sustaining-value-creation-for-the-long-term\/\">value creation<\/a>, to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ceo-na.com\/primezone\/five-ways-in-which-artificial-intelligence-facilitates-team-building\/\">Artificial Intelligence<\/a>, to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ceo-na.com\/business\/management-leadership\/give-your-remote-team-unstructured-time-for-collaboration\/\">practices, habits<\/a> and ways of leadership, the pandemic is redefining where work is done and how as society comes to terms with the enormity of the shared experiences.<\/p>\n<p>When it comes to consumer-facing, consultants say companies are coming to the realization that they need a leader at the top who understands the American consumer, and that most people driving purchase decisions in households are women, and with a record 41 female CEOs are heading to lead\u00a0Fortune 500 companies <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ceo-na.com\/news\/retail-industry-driving-representation-of-women-ceos\/\">come February<\/a>, it seems that 2021 arrives with a general notion of the size and importance that woman have in business and in the global economy.<\/p>\n<p>Since 1998, when Carly Fiorina took the #1 spot,\u00a0Fortune\u00a0has ranked the Most Powerful Women (MPW) in Business using these criteria, but with COVID-19 disrupting everything we know,\u00a0the approach with this ranking turned into revealing the\u00a0how\u00a0an executive is wielding her power, especially in this moment of crisis and uncertainty, is she using her influence to shape her company and the wider world for the better?<\/p>\n<p>This new\u00a0criterion has paved the way for 13 newcomers to be added to the list (up from 10 newcomers in 2019, and 7 in 2018). It has also led to a drop in the ranking of executives like Facebook&#8217;s COO\u00a0<span class=\"xn-person\">Sheryl Sandberg<\/span>\u00a0and YouTube&#8217;s CEO\u00a0<span class=\"xn-person\">Susan Wojcicki<\/span>, whose &#8220;failure to rein in misinformation on their platforms overshadows their companies&#8217; strong financial performance.&#8221;\u00a0The top\u00a05\u00a0women on the list are the CEOs of their companies: Accenture, General Motors, Fidelity Investments, Anthem,\u00a0and\u00a0UPS.<\/p>\n<p>From\u00a0<span class=\"teaserGridListItem__title--1Wr5u\">Marillyn Hewson, Mary Barra,\u00a0<\/span>Abigail Johnson, Ginni Rometty and Gail Boudreaux leading as the top women in business in 2019, the top five of 2020 are composed of Julie Sweet, again Mary Barra, Abigail Johnson, <span class=\"teaserGridListItem__title--1Wr5u\"><span class=\"teaserGridListItem__title--1Wr5u\">Gail Boudreaux,\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Carol Tom\u00e9 and Jane Fraser,\u00a0who in\u00a0<span class=\"xn-chron\">February 2021<\/span>\u00a0will become\u00a0the first woman to head a major U.S. bank.\u00a0The total market cap of public companies led by MPW CEOs is\u00a0<span class=\"xn-money\">$1.02 trillion<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Editor-in-Chief\u00a0<span class=\"xn-person\">Clifton Leaf<\/span>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.prnewswire.com\/news-releases\/fortune-reveals-23rd-annual-list-of-the-50-most-powerful-women-in-business-301154798.html\">discussed to PRNewswire<\/a> FORTUNE&#8217;s decision to award Accenture&#8217;s Sweet the top spot: &#8220;[Accenture], which commands a market cap of close to\u00a0<span class=\"xn-money\">$150 billion<\/span>, brought in\u00a0<span class=\"xn-money\">$44.3 billion<\/span>\u00a0in revenue in its latest fiscal year, while profits rose 7% from the previous year.
