If you have been enjoying an emerald-colored beer at your favorite Irish pub year after year and want to make it at home during lockdown, you may be surprised just how easy it really is.<\/p>
Legend has it that a doctor named Dr. Thomas Curtin created green beer as we know it for a party at the Schnerer Club of Morrisania in the Bronx for St. Patrick\u2019s Day 1914.<\/p>
There is no trick to making green beer and it requires no special skills. It is, quite simply, a light-colored beer that has a drop of green food coloring added to it. The flavor does not change, only the color.<\/p>
It should be noted that if you want to drink like a real Irishman and celebrate the Emerald Isle\u2019s heritage, nothing is more appropriate than a pint of Guinness or a shot of Irish whiskey.<\/p>
Choosing the right beer<\/strong><\/p> Almost any beer will work, but some produce a brighter color than others. To get the very greenest of beers, choose a light-colored brew such as Budweiser, Miller, Busch, or Coors. Alternatively, look for a great pale-colored craft beer such as a German pilsner.<\/p> If you want to experiment with a darker beer, you are likely to encounter an interesting effect. The body of the beer will turn darker and have a slight evergreen hue when held to the light.
